What is the JSU-Berrie Ambassadors Cohort?

The JSU-Berrie Ambassadors Cohort is an elite group of Jewish students in Bergen County, NJ, dedicated to the goal of creating within the secular public school system welcoming and vibrant Jewish communities for teens to learn and connect with each other, explore Jewish
culture and history, and discover opportunities for deeper engagement.

What does JSU-Berrie mean?

Good question! The Cohort is the product of a partnership between Jewish Student Union (JSU) and the Russel Berrie Foundation. With a generous grant from the Foundation, Berrie Ambassadors will use the existing infrastructure of JSU in Bergen County to deepen and expand Jewish engagement.

Who can apply?

Any Jewish sophomores or juniors in a Bergen County public school!

What do Ambassadors actually do?

Ambassadors must attend 7 in person leadership experiences as well as 7 zoom learning sessions throughout the year. In addition, Ambassadors will form leadership groups which will specialize in creating initiatives in the areas of education, recruitment, fundraising and more. And of course, ambassadors are expected to attend JSU clubs and events regularly.

What are some examples of events?

JSU Presidents Conference, special shabbatons, relief missions, and fundraisers.
