Special Needs Enrichment Services Programming:

The Special Need Training Institute (SNTI) program is limited to 10 individuals, 14 years of age or older, who participate in a training program funded by ZB. & J.E. Butler Foundation.  The JCC of Mid-Westchester works in coordination with JCC on the Hudson to provide the opportunity for teen volunteers.  This is a wonderful opportunity for meaningful, intensive, volunteering!

More info:

Volunteers must commit to participating from September – June.  Times/days vary based on on program of interest.  Sunday/Funday volunteers must commit for a total of 26 Sundays, 8:45am-12pm (see schedule).  Saturday Night Social volunteers must commit for a total of 10 Saturdays, 5:45pm-8pm.  Social Skills Group volunteers must commit for a total of 30 Wednesdays, 3:45pm-5pm. We offer 12 and 13 year olds a unique community service experience that can serve as a B’Nei Mitzvah project by doing volunteer work through our Special Needs Enrichment Services department programming.  In addition, high school students may commit as a volunteer to meet their community service requirements while enhancing their college resumes. All volunteers are required to commit to the entire school year season of their chosen program dates to ensure consistency for our participants.

Through a grant made possible by the Z.B. & J.E. Butler Foundation, selected teen volunteers will participate in the CLASSP/Special Needs Training Institute (SNTI), a program coordinated with JCC on the Hudson. Teens attend classes and work with children with special needs while earning one (1) college credit and a stipend upon completion.  The program culminates with the Annual Youth Leader Worker Conference in early Spring 2019.
