New York City Department of Parks & Recreation:
NYC Parks is investing in the future and we need your help. Our volunteers help with forest and wetland restoration, planting and pruning street trees, harvesting and propagating native seed and monitoring local wildlife. By becoming a steward of NYC’s green spaces, you can help ensure that our city’s natural resources are kept safe for future generations.

Want to get involved but aren’t sure where to start? Request a project for your group! We always have a running list of projects that could use a helping hand.
Groups can have a vital and significant impact on the ongoing restoration and management of nature in the city. Group projects help enhance and expand the impact of NYC Parks work in a variety of landscapes. Projects include planting, invasive species removal, aerating and mulching street tree pits, and other protective measures for new plantings, wetland clean-ups, trail projects, and more!
Nature-based projects are great opportunities for team-building and enjoying the unique landscapes of the city, while making a real difference. Anyone can request a project, and projects can be tailored for all sizes and types of groups. Our staff will review your request and find the best available project match for your group, identify a project date, and provide all staff and supplies for the event.
