Want to get outside and help in nature conservation efforts? The Audubon hosts volunteer opportunities in Syracuse, upstate, New York City, and Long Island—open to all ages and all levels of previous experience! Contribute to restoration projects that are creating or improving wildlife habitat in the Onondaga Lake watershed. Scout out Sandy Island Beach State Park and Lakeview Wildlife to see if Lake Ontario Piping Plover Monitoring-Piping continue to return, contribute to the For the Birds! Program of NYC, an elementary education program that teaches environmental awareness and appreciation of nature through the study of birds, or help install symbolic fencing around piping plover nesting habitat, join beach clean-ups, build wooden shelters for nesting terns, and travel to and help locate and GPS tern nests on Great Gull Island. There are so many ways to get involved.
